Summary:
Specialty crop grant funding is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture and is allocated to the state to be awarded through a competitive grant process. Projects must solely enhance the competitiveness of U.S. grown specialty crops in either domestic or foreign markets and must provide a benefit to more than just the applicant. Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops, including floriculture.

Award:
There are no minimum or maximum limits on the amount of funds that can be requested for one project, but the average grant amount in the past has been between $50,000-$100,000.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline:
Four (4) applications per institution are permitted.

If selected to submit a full proposal, Principal Investigators must ensure that proposals meet all requirements stated in the RFP, in the announcement, and in the implementing laws and regulations related to this grant program.
Key Submission Dates:
- March 4, 2022 – Notice of Intent to Submit due to preaward@boisestate.edu.
- March 11, 2022 – Full proposal due to OSP
- March 18, 2022 – Full proposal due to ISDA
