About

Started in 2016 by Boise State’s School of Public Service, the Idaho Policy Institute is dedicated to conducting and fostering research and partnerships with community and industry.

Services

We host many different types of relationships, whether it be across campus through interdisciplinary work, providing student opportunities, contracting with organization partners or by connecting students with the community to conduct student-led research projects called capstone projects.

Collaborative Projects

The Idaho Policy Institute is working closely with the Master of Public Administration at Boise State University to conduct a 4-pronged research project aimed at assessing the needs of potential employers in the valley. The results of this project have, and will continue, to inform institutional decisions made by the university.

Vanessa’s research and teaching focus on the role of multi-sector, evidenced-based solutions in addressing persistent social, environmental, and economic issues. Much of her recent research has focused on housing and homelessness. Before moving to Boise to earn her PhD at Boise State, Vanessa lived in the Wood River Valley and worked with a number of nonprofit organizations.  As a co-founder and chair of Sustain Blaine (now Sun Valley Economic Development), Vanessa collaborated with stakeholders across the community to create a regional economic development strategy for all of Blaine County.
