As the Idaho partner for the EPA’s Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (TCTAC) program, the HCRI is creating an “Idaho Landscape Scan” to catalog some of Idaho’s most environmentally burdened communities, the concerns and priorities of those communities, and the organizations working to minimize the environmental impacts on those communities. The ultimate goal of this project is to connect communities with technical assistance opportunities.
To create the Idaho Landscape Scan, the HCRI is collecting and synthesizing information from state agencies, community-based organizations, community members, and environmental management plans. By integrating the various perspectives of these groups, The Idaho Landscape Scan represents a community-derived list of environmental priorities around the state. The key deliverables of the Idaho Landscape Scan will be: 1) a searchable database of “connectors” (agency groups and community-based organizations working on environmental and social justice issues) at the state, regional, and local scale; and 2) a spatial representation of documented environmental concerns around the state of Idaho.
