Research Summary
Through my participation in the Urban Studies program’s “Field School” course, I worked with a multidisciplinary team of students and faculty to create an original conceptual site design for a new park in the city of Star, Idaho. We conducted site visits to Star, travelled to Chicago to collect data on their public parks and spaces, and used our data and observations to come up with a polished design for what Star’s “South of the River” area could become. Our plan utilized inclusive participation of Star’s residents to identify existing amenity gaps, suggested infrastructure that could endure local challenges, and worked to create a unique community identity that remained true the the City’s roots while making space for future growth.
