The Lucky Peak Dam Tour/Bike Ride was a successful collaboration between the HCRI and the American Water Resource Association to bring awareness to water management and distribution via the Boise River and Lucky Peak Dam.
We had 16 participants show up to the event, with most participants opting to ride bikes for the entire ride despite the wind. We also had 5 participants who showed up to Payette Brewing afterwards to discuss hydrology careers and water management with Marve and Keith, two of our guides for the day.
I spoke with some of the students afterwards, and many of them are interested in a future tour of the Arrowrock Dam (which we would be able to tour the inside of), and more events similar to this one.
I am grateful to everyone who assisted with the organization and planning of this event, including: Brittany Brand, Russel Lodge, Kyle Peterson, Miyuki Henry, and Zac Provant. I also want to send out a special thanks to our helpful and knowledgeable guides for the day: Ranger Keith Hyde (USACE), Marve Griffith (USACE Project Manager), and Mark Morris (USACE Hydraulics Engineer).
