This past July, the Boise State HCRI was strongly represented at the 49th Annual Natural Hazards Workshop hosted by the Natural Hazards Center.
Graduate students Prithila Purkayastha and Sabrina Akther, advised by HCRI Director Brittany Brand, both had the opportunity to present posters illustrating their recent work.
Doctoral candidate Ashely Bosa, also advised by Director Brand, submitted an abstract to the workshop titled: Integrating Behavioral Science and Evacuation Modeling to Improve Community Wildfire Resilience. Ashley’s research focuses on households’ pre-event evacuation preparedness within the framework of the Protective Action Decision Model (PADM).
Brand writes “this was an incredible professional development opportunity for our students to share and receive feedback on their science. They all did an exceptional job.”
