The HCRI is thrilled to welcome Kyle Peterson as our newly appointed Community Engagement Coordinator.
Kyle was born and raised in Idaho. He holds a Master’s of Public Health from Boise State University and possesses a broad range of research interests related to sustainability and environmental topics.
As a Research Associate, Kyle will play a crucial role in community engagement and network building for resilience and sustainability efforts. This involves coordinating with various university and community partners, such as emergency managers, non-profits, planners, and academic collaborators. Kyle will lead and support engagement activities, including in-person or virtual events like webinars and panel discussions.
In addition to these responsibilities, Kyle will co-lead the VIP Building Resilient Communities course and participate in the NSF ART STRP – Building Rural Resilience project. This project specifically focuses on promoting environmental, climate, and energy justice for Idaho communities. Kyle’s tasks include identifying relevant metrics, simplifying approaches for underserved communities, investigating scalability to the county level, and developing evaluation criteria for assessing the impact of engagement strategies on resilience planning and collaborative action.
