The HCRI proudly served as the institutional host for the 2025 Green Communities Leadership Institute (GCLI). Zac Provant, HCRI postdoctoral research fellow, attended this intensive three-day workshop. At GCLI, environmental leaders from around the United States and Canada gathered to advance their personal, organizational, and community leadership skills. Zac’s takeaways from the program were both small and large, concrete and philosophical–he left GCLI with specific new tools for decision-making as well as broad reflections on how to be a more effective leader.

Zac is excited to weave this experience into his work with the Hazard and Climate Resilience Institute, Boise State University, and communities across Idaho. Thank you to Brittany Brand, HCRI director, for her ongoing commitment to Zac’s personal and professional development. As it turns out, Brittany’s investment in Zac exemplifies the very purpose of GCLI leadership training: the best leaders foster a culture where emerging leaders can grow.
