On Friday, August 30th the HCRI and volunteers teamed up with Global Gardens staff for a morning of volunteer activities. Program Manager Ben Brock described the various method in which Global Gardens farmers sell their produce–CSA program, farmers markets, and wholesale–before kicking off the volunteer activities scheduled for the day.
Together the group helped with the installation of a row of fencing for peas, shucked dried garlic from the root, and picked sun gold cherry tomatoes. Great conversation took place throughout, with countless community connections uncovered between both volunteers and Global Gardens staff.
If you’re sad to have missed out, there’s good news! Another volunteer day with Global Gardens is in the works for Spring 2025! During this time of year, farmers are busy with large-scale preparations of the land – the more volunteers we can get the better!
If you’re interested in joining for this next event, please fill out the HCRI & Global Gardens Volunteering – Spring 2025 Interest Form and the HCRI team will reach out in early 2025.
