Can I change a predetermined equivalency of test credit or transfer evaluation?

Yes, this can be done with an Academic Adjustment form.

When should I do an equivalency vs. a substitution?

Option one of the Academic Adjustment form is used for course equivalencies. A course equivalency is when a course taken at another institution is considered to be the same as a course offered at Boise State. Option two of the Academic Adjustment form is used for substitutions. Either a substitution is when a transfer course is not the same as course offered at Boise State, but can be used to fulfill a graduation requirement. Or a substitution is when a Boise State course is used in place of another one to fulfill a graduation requirement, (e.g., PHIL 201 used to fulfill the GENBUS 441 requirement).

Who should sign the Academic Adjustment Form?

The required signatures are indicated on the Academic Adjustment form next to the category of the request. Please note that all signatures are required before the form will be processed.

What is a second degree check sheet and who completes it?

The second degree check sheet is used to notify the Registrar’s Office of the courses a student must take to earn a second degree.

The department chair must complete and sign the second degree check sheet.

Where do I get the second degree check sheet?

There is no standard second degree check sheet. Each department is responsible for creating their own form. Some departments use a standard checklist others prefer to use a memo method by simply listing the courses required for the second degree on letterhead. Either is acceptable. The Registrar’s Office’s major check sheets can also be utilized as second degree check sheets.

When should I tell my advisee to apply for graduation?

Students should apply the semester before they intend to graduate.

The application deadline is the end of the first week of the semester you intend to graduate. You can apply through the last day of classes of the semester in which you are graduating, but a late fee will be assessed.

How long will it be before a graduation evaluation is processed? Will I be notified?

It can take up to 6 weeks after the 10th day of the semester for all students graduation applications to be reviewed. Students are sent a email informing them of their graduation status. They will either be a valid candidate for graduation, meaning they are enrolled in everything they need to graduate, or they will not graduate that semester, and will receive a move letter, meaning they still have outstanding requirements. Only the student will receive the notification.

What is the purpose of the Second Degree Transfer Credit Request Form?

This form will allow transfer courses to be used as prerequisites. These courses are transferred with no credit and grades of P to be used as prerequisites for enrollment purposes only.

What classes do I include on the Second Degree Transfer Credit Request Form?

Only courses that are required for prerequisite purposes (e.g., for a student pursuing a second degree in English, Literature Emphasis, ENGL 102 will be needed as a prerequisite to all upper-division English courses. ENGL 102 should be listed on the form).
