[Emma, Student Outdoor Program Leader, Political Science Major]: Hey there Broncos! Welcome to Boise State! We take great pride in saying that Idaho is an outdoor leverage Paradise. A place where learning extends beyond the classroom and into a student’s daily life.
[Cole, Student Outdoor Program Leader, Psychology Major]: At Boise State’s Rec Center we build an engaged community that encourages healthy, active, people and enhances Student Success. So while you’re pursuing your dreams as a student here, there’s no shortage of adventures in the great outdoors that await you and your friends just beyond the edges of Campus!
[Emma]: I’m Emma and I’m a student studying political science.
[Cole]: And I’m Cole. I’m majoring Psychology.
[Emma]: Today we’ll be your guide to Boise State’s outdoor programs. Ready to explore Idaho’s natural beauty?
[Cole]: Let’s dive in!

[Cole]: So what is the Outdoor program? It’s your ticket to broadening your horizons and connecting to the natural world.
[Emma]: At the heart of our program are our core values Equity environmental, stewardship, and Leadership. We strive to make the outdoors fun for everyone to take part in, regardless of background or experience level
[Cole]: We’re located on campus within the rec center and whether you’re trying something new or building on past experience. We welcome everyone to join us for rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, hiking and more.
[Emma]: Here’s what I love our programs are designed to make your outdoor experience unforgettable and easily accessible. We offer trips led by experienced leaders, a rock climbing wall, a rental center, custom programs for groups on campus, and skills workshops for all.
[Cole]: Our one-day and multi-day trips are beginner friendly, affordable, and all-inclusive. Everything you need is provided from food, to transportation, to equipment we’ll give an introduction of the activity before you get started, so you know the ropes on safety, technique, and how to adapt the trip to your needs. Your trip leader is there for you every step of the way.
[Emma]: Are you an incoming student? If you’ve recently enrolled in your first year at Boise State, our Summer Welcome Adventures are the perfect way to make friends and explore Idaho before your first year even begins. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity. Registration opens in March!
[Cole]: Do you need some gear? No what we’ve got you covered check out our rental center for all your year round outdoor needs, from tents, to Kayaks, to backpacks, we’ve got everything you need for your next adventure!

[Emma]: Not sure what you need? Our student staff will listen to your plan and consult you on how to be fully equipped for your trip. We have over a thousand pieces of equipment, and full-time students get twenty percent discount.
[Cole]: Want to take your experience to the next level? We have tons of opportunities to help you find your community and develop leadership skills as a trip leader. Our leader trainings offer you the opportunity to gain the skills and confidence you need to lead your peers in any environment. It’s a great way to find your community here at Boise State, and in Idaho!
