Calton Millward

Calton Millward joined the Ultrafast Spectroscopy team at Boise State University as a Graduate Research Assistant in November 2024. He works under the team leadership of Dr. Ryan Pensack and Dr. Daniel Turner.

While attending Southern Utah University (SUU) for his undergraduate studies, Calton took a physical chemistry course that sparked his interest in research. This led him to work with the course instructor, Prof. Jacob Dean. Before starting graduate school at Boise State, Calton conducted research at SUU measuring dipyrrolic analogues, which are common to photosynthetic pigments, using Resonant Two-Photon Ionization and UV-IR/IR-IR hole-burning techniques.

Outside the lab, Calton is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys activities such as rock climbing, canyoneering, backpacking, and gravity sports like snowboarding and mountain biking.
