Matthew S. Barclay

Bio

Dr. Matt Barclay joined the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering at Boise State University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in January of 2020 as part of the quantum DNA (qDNA) group with the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Team, then continued his work as a Research Scholar since 2022. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas under the joint guidance of Dr. Christopher Elles and Dr. Marco Caricato. His dissertation work focused on the experimental measurement and theoretical modeling of Raman spectra for molecules in electronically excited states. His work in the qDNA group has centered around the measurement of the excited-state behavior of DNA-templated molecular aggregates, where he has gained additional expertise in ultrafast and multidimensional optical spectroscopy in order to further understand the structure and dynamics of molecular excitons and nanoscale materials for energy and computing applications.
