The School of the Arts recently launched the Arts Passport, a one-credit online course (AE 294/494) that invites students to participate in arts-related events on campus and in the community and to write reflections on their experiences.
How Does It Work?
- Event Attendance:
- Attend a total of 7 cultural events throughout the semester.
- Attend at least one event from each of the following categories: visual art, music, theater, and film (a maximum of 2 films will be accepted for credit).
- Ensure attendance at a minimum of 1 event every 2 weeks.
- Reflective Writing:
- Submit a reflective essay for each attended event.
- Reflective essays should explore personal reactions, insights, emotional response, and critical analysis of the cultural event.
- Minimum word count: 300 (294) – 500 (494) words per reflection.
- Reflections are due by the end of each 2-week period.
- Online Discussions:
- Participate in online discussions about the cultural events attended.
- Engage with peers by sharing insights and responding to their reflections.
- Active participation in discussions is integral to the learning experience.
- Final Reflection Paper:
- Submit a comprehensive final reflection paper that synthesizes insights gained throughout the semester.
- Discuss connections between different art forms and their impact on personal growth.
