Read the Phaedo 57a-59e (267-9) and 72d-85c (281-92)
1. This dialogue has a noteworthy dramatic structure — can you identify and explain it? (Hint: it appears in the dialogue’s opening pages.)
2. In the Phaedo Socrates is arguing for the soul’s survival of bodily death. Part of his strategy is to argue for the existence of “divine, deathless, intelligible, uniform, indissoluble” unchanging, and supersensible objects. How does this argument go? (Hint: it comes very early in the second assigned section.)
