The College Level Examination Program (CLEP®) offers exams in 33 subjects. Roughly 2,900 colleges and universities award course credit for satisfactory scores. Consult your advisor before scheduling a CLEP exam. A course equivalency table can be found on the Registrar’s Website.
Please note: CLEP cannot be used as a substitute for repeating a course that has already been attempted at Boise State.
Boise State Registrar: CLEP Credits
Scheduling
Students must purchase a voucher ticket from the official Collegeboard-CLEP website, then schedule an appointment. Two separate fees apply: CLEP test vouchers cost $89 (paid on the Collegeboard website), as well as a proctoring fee of $40 (paid through the scheduling page). Students must bring a valid Drivers License or other government-issued ID, as well as a printed copy of the CLEP Voucher Tickets.
Test Scores
If you need to retrieve score transcripts for a past CLEP exam, you must contact the Collegeboard directly. Testers receive a copy of their unofficial results after the test, except for essay exams, which take four to six weeks for scoring. If you plan to take the CLEP® exam for credit for prerequisite courses or credits needed for graduation, please plan ahead. It takes four to six weeks for the official score report to arrive at the Registrar’s Office. All CLEP exams have a 90-minute time limit.
Military & Civil Servants
Boise State Testing Services is an official DANTES funded testing site for qualified military personnel, civil service personnel, Dept. of Defense Acquisition Personnel, and their spouses. Those who are eligible will not be charged the above fees. See the Collegeboard eligibility chart to find out if you qualify. Qualified testers should select the “Active Military CLEP” option when making an appointment. Please be aware that a valid military ID must be presented at check-in.
