Are we experiencing a revolution in artificial intelligence? What is artificial intelligence and what are generative AI Large Language Models? What is prompting? How can I map my values to potential workplace uses of generative AI Large Language Models?

Learn not only an overview of Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models (LLMs) but also begin to consider how they might alter the way you work or how they might fundamentally change communication, content production and writing workflows. Get a basic introduction to prompting by using ChatGPT and Google Gemini and learn best practices with ethics, cybersecurity and data privacy in mind. Begin to draft your next steps or start a usage plan that safely and ethically embeds AI LLMs into workflows and that aligns with your and/or your organization’s values.

You will learn:

  • A general overview of AI Large Language Models
  • How AI LLMs are being used at Boise State as part of written content production
  • How AI LLMs can ethically be incorporated into the work of your organization, particularly written communications

So you will be able to:

  • Experiment with prompting ChatGPT and Google Gemini
  • Apply best practices of data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethics
  • Consider how your personal and organizational values align with generative AI integration
  • Determine next steps or begin a usage plan that safely and ethically embeds AI LLMs into workflows for written communications or content production

Jill Heney

Jill Heney is a faculty member with the Department of Writing Studies and a Faculty Affiliate with the School for the Digital Future at Boise State. She has enjoyed teaching, researching and presenting nationally about the intersection of writing and technology, and she continues to learn from students and colleagues in this era of burgeoning AI. In her teaching and consulting, Jill is committed to and passionate about creating optimal learning environments that support others as they develop their writing and creativity. She holds degrees from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Boise State University and is currently earning a certificate in Creativity and Design Thinking from Stanford University’s School of Engineering.
