Excel Productivity, Level 1

Excel Productivity is for self-taught Excel users to teach them productivity tips and tricks.

The theme is higher productivity, lower frustration. The way to that goal is to learn the little secrets a self-taught user never knew existed.

In this class they will learn how to customize Excel to suit their preferences; the two-step chart; basic formulas; speedy data entry; controlling page layouts, columns, rows, and margins; and managing spreadsheets. We will also work on Charting features (and the super-secret to charts) and by the time they are done, students will finally feel in charge of Excel rather than at the mercy of it.

In-class exercises include:

  • Designing a useful form for use outside of this class (a big feature of Excel is form creation)
  • Design a personal yearly household budget spreadsheet with formulas and categories (a useful spreadsheet to take away from class)
