The Department of Geosciences at Boise State University presents “Early Footsteps: Evidence of Humans in North America During the Last Glacial Maximum” on Monday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Simplot Ballroom. This event is free and doors open at 7:00 p.m.
For the last half century, most evidence pointed to arrival of humans in North America around 13,000 to 15,000 years ago. However, new dates for footprints at White Sands National Park, NM, indicate that humans were already here 23,000 years ago. USGS Researchers Jeffrey Pigati and Kathleen Springer will present evidence for ancient preserved trackways, including footprints of humans and other now-extinct ice age mammals.
