Job Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the operational duties related to the planning, coordination, volunteer activities, and financial transactions of the unit.

Essential Functions

  • Inspire, develop, and promote innovative special learning opportunities to complement core program offerings and special events.
  • Regularly attend curriculum committee meetings to stay abreast of member interests, and cultivate member and community relationships that favor Osher programming ideas.
  • Support a robust volunteer program with processes for recruitment, training, retention, and recognition of member-volunteers.
  • Support the volunteer committee and serve as staff liaison for this and other member committees, as assigned.
  • Manage the day-to-day classroom activities.
  • Serve as a point-person with instructors beginning approximately a month prior to, and for the duration of his/her commitment to ensure they are well-supported and their needs are met.
  • Assist in providing program orientations to instructors as part of onboarding for presentations.
  • Stay informed via University communications of special focus areas on campus and in the community to help identify potential instructors.
  • Work with campus departments and/or vendors, following university policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with the Director of Osher and staff of Extended Studies’ Customer Service to ensure clear communication and excellent customer service to Osher members.
  • Assist in the process of registration annually and as needed for special sessions.
  • Maintain a database of volunteer members and tasks. Help identify new volunteers from within the membership, identify opportunities where volunteers can support staff workload and program management. Assist director in organizing volunteer recognition activities.
  • Monthly reconciliation of P-card
  • Along with the director and other staff within the unit, support a student employee with training, assignments of logistical support to programming, and office functions.
  • Be visible to members on a regular basis and take time to interact with members during program activities

  • Ability to work efficiently individually and in a team environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and against deadlines
  • Program development experience
  • Experience working with a membership-based program
  • Experience working with volunteers, and employing volunteer program best practices

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Boise State University accounts payable systems
  • Experience in managing multiple projects
  • Experience with technology platforms for online program delivery, and proficiency in Word and Excel

Salary range starting at $48,068.80.
