Costs

The basic cost of your Orientation is covered by the New Student Curriculum fee. You’ll see this charge on your fall tuition and fees statement. An overnight stay and outdoor outings are program additions for students with costs listed below. Family and guests are also an additional fee. If you need a fee waiver, please reach out to our office.

When can I sign-up for Orientation if I start in Fall 2025?

What if the link to sign-up is not working properly/isn’t loading?

What if I can’t make any of these program dates due to special circumstances?

What if I need to reschedule?

Log into your orientation and advising portal to reschedule or call our office at (208) 426-1156.

Why is there a guest fee?

Student orientation is funded by student fees paid through tuition. The family and guest fee allows us to cover family orientation costs from food to space to staffing, similar to a conference.

Need help navigating to campus?

You’ll find Boise State University between Broadway Avenue and Capital Boulevard, just a short distance from Interstate 84 and less than 4 miles from the Boise Airport. Check-in will be in the Recreation Center while a majority of the Orientation program is held in the Student Union Building.

Parking

Free parking is provided on campus during orientation programs at the Lincoln Parking Garage. If you are staying overnight, you can leave your car overnight as well.

What to Bring For Orientation:

• Water Bottle
• Comfortable Shoes
• Laptop
  • Some colleges/majors have specific computer advice; review their recommendations.
  • Computers are available for those without one.
• Official form of identification
• Boise State student ID number
• Any essential prescription medications you may need
• Spending money for snacks (meals are provided)
• Overnight items
  • Review specifics in Overnight Stay tab.
• Hiking or rafting items
  • Review specifics in Outdoor Outings tab.

Do Not Bring:

• Drugs and alcohol.
• Non-service animals.
• Unregistered friends or guests.



What does an overnight stay include?

One night in a residence hall to experience staying on campus.

What should I bring to stay overnight?

• Sleepwear and change of clothing for day 2.
• Appropriate athletic attire for the recreation center.
• Pillow and sleeping bag or twin-sized linens and comforter.
• Towel and toiletries.
• Hair tools (if needed).
• Shower shoes/flip flops.

Do Not Bring:

• Drugs and alcohol.
• Non-service animals.



What are the outdoor outing options and details?

• Sunset hike on day 1 during evening activities.

How do I sign-up?

• Space permitting, you can register for these outings in your Orientation & Advising Portal.

How do I indicate I need accommodations to participate in the orientation program?

If you need any accommodations for reading, seeing, hearing, language, or other disability-related needs to fully participate in the in-person orientation, please indicate that when you sign up for your orientation or contact our office to add an accommodation for you.

How do I modify my accommodations for the orientation program?

If your situation has changed and you’ve already signed up for your orientation, please contact our office to update your accommodation details.
