If you are interested in joining Dr. Chyung’s WORC team to pursue research and development activities together, please review the following information and contact Dr. Chyung via email (ychyung@boisestate.edu):
Eligibility:
- OPWL students, graduates, and faculty members can join the current or new WORC team.
- Other practitioners working in the OPWL-related fields can also join the WORC team.
Requirements:
- You should have graduate-level reading and comprehension, and writing skills.
- You should be committed to spending a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least 16 consecutive weeks (a semester-long period).
- You should be self-directed and interested in pursuing research and development activities in the OPWL context.
- You should be able to communicate with other members via email (weekly) and teleconference system such as Zoom or Hangouts (once every 3-4 weeks).
Participation method:
- You may participate in WORC activities as a volunteering researcher (no credit).
- You may participate in WORC activities by enrolling in a minimum of one-credit course:
- If you are an OPWL student, enroll in OPWL 595 Readings and Conference or OPWL 596 Independent Study.
- If you are an OPWL graduate or a non-BSU student, enroll in OPWL 595 Readings and Conference or OPWL 696 Directed Research. As an OPWL graduate or a non-BSU student, you do not have access to the BSU online library. Enrolling in a one-credit course will provide you with access to the BSU online library.
- To complete a one-credit course, you are expected to spend about 50 hours (i.e., 3-4 hours a week for 16 weeks).
- You as Dr. Chyung’s graduate assistant (GA) or research assistant (RA) will be required to participate in WORC activities.
- You as a degree-seeking student may select Dr. Chyung as your thesis advisor to pursue the thesis culminating option:
- You will enroll in OPWL 593 Thesis credits (a total of minimum 6 credits, spread out into 2-3 semesters).
- You will work closely with Dr. Chyung to design and execute your thesis research.
- You will also work with other thesis committee members while completing your thesis research.
- So, basically, you are pursuing workplace-oriented research with Dr. Chyung as your thesis advisor and other thesis committee members in a team environment.
