A little about me!
After a 20-year career in the high tech industry, from project management to manufacturing operations, I truly appreciate modern degree plans that offer access to higher education from anywhere with an internet connection. I grew up pre-PC, and definitely pre-smartphone, in rural Idaho in an agricultural economy. The need for higher education was somehow diminished by the need, for example, to feed the cows. So to help people find education without putting the rest of life on hold is amazing.
Hobbies: I enjoy hiking, camping and fly fishing. I also (on occasion) like golf. I’m a dad, a husband and a master at planting tomatoes too early in the spring only to watch them freeze.
I’m dedicated to helping you because: After a midlife career change into a people-facing business I am inspired by the people I meet every day — students are finishing their degree at Boise State from every walk of life, from every state in the country and achieving something that is life-changing. When I see all the happy tears at graduation, that pretty well sums it up!
My top tip when considering an online degree: Build your own Boise State success team! This means connecting with many people, on and off campus, and getting out of your comfort zone. Tap into and build your network and look for every opportunity to learn from experienced people — your academic advising team, your professors and your peers. And then consider what you might glean from your boss, your future boss (job shadow) and anyone else you can include as a part of your team.
Education: I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Montana State and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Idaho.
I’m here to help!
From deciding if an online degree is right for you to figuring out what credits transfer from previous schools, talking to a student success coach is the best place to start.
