What’s the difference between an AS and a BS?

Not every higher education journey is alike. Whether you are ready to earn credits toward an associate degree or certificate, or start working toward a bachelor’s degree, Boise State University’s Online Degree Pathway can help get you where you want to go.

The program offers lower-division online coursework and certificates, allowing you to earn an associate of arts or associate of science. These credits can then be applied toward a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree.

The Online Degree Pathway helps ease you into your college journey and to explore different subjects while making significant progress toward your educational goals. Plus, there are several low-cost ways to incorporate the program.

With no strict requirements, you can choose the courses you need, enter and exit the pathway as needed, and save both time and money.

The program includes University Foundations courses, which prepare you for upper-division and degree-specific coursework, as well as elective courses that allow you to explore your interests while satisfying lower-division credit requirements. If you are undecided on a career path, you can try different subject areas before committing to a specific one through electives.

The Online Degree Pathway offers flexibility with a wide range of courses available in a fully online format. Courses are offered in seven- or fifteen-week sessions, with six start dates throughout the academic year. This flexibility is ideal for students with diverse schedules and commitments.

The program is student-focused, with a dedicated team providing excellent service through personalized advising, degree plans and communication strategies tailored to your needs.

Specialized pathways for online associate degree graduates

In addition to University Foundations and elective courses, the program offers pre-program pathways that bridge the gap to a degree program. These pathways have admission requirements based on the number of credits completed, specific foundation courses or a completed online associate degree.

For working adults, flexible scheduling options make it possible to earn an online associate degree. The Online Degree Pathway offers specialized pathways to prepare you for three popular online bachelor’s degrees.

Once you complete the Online Degree Pathway, you can enroll in either an online bachelor of arts or bachelor of science program of your choice.

No matter your higher education journey, the Online Degree Pathway allows you to progress toward your end goal without changing schools or having to stop and make your life fit around your educational requirements.
