How can I make eduroam come up as the default wireless connection at Boise State?
Your device needs to “forget” the Bronco-Guest network. If you remove Bronco-Guest as a known wireless connection, eduroam should become the default connection.
Why can’t I access TikTok?
The State of Idaho has banned TikTok from being accessed on state networks and systems, including Boise State’s wireless and wired networks.
Why can’t I use BitTorrent?
BitTorrent is unavailable on all Boise State campus networks due to legal and security issues.

Why is it “eduroam” and not “Eduroam”?
Great question! It has something to do with a requirement that the eduroam SSID is spelled consistently at all institutions using the system.
I reset my Boise State password and now can’t access the eduroam network on my iPhone/iPad.
If your iOS device is configured to Auto-Join the eduroam wireless network, you may need to disable the Auto-Join setting before you can enter your new password to connect to eduroam.
Here’s how:
- Open to the Settings app and select Wi-Fi.
- Tap the small (i) next to the eduroam network name.
- Turn off the switch next to “Auto-Join”
- Connect to the eduroam network and enter your new password where prompted.
After you successfully authenticate you can go back to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the small (i) next to eduroam, and switch “Auto-Join” back on.
Why can’t I play Honkai: Star Rails at Boise State?
Honkai: Star Rails uses the TikTok platform for some of its services. As TikTok is unavailable on Boise State’s networks, the game can only be played on non-Boise State networks.
Can I use Hola VPN?
You may not use Hola VPN on Boise State’s network. If we detect you are using Hola VPN, we will block your access to our network.
Hola VPN advertises itself as software to “…access websites blocked in your country, company, or school.” It is also not a VPN, it is a peer-to-peer network.
We strongly recommend that you don’t use Hola VPN on any network.
Bronco-Guest
Why is Bronco-Guest not a secure network, unlike eduroam?
Bronco-Guest is provided as short-term complimentary access for guests and friends of the University.
If guests and friends do not want to use Bronco-Guest due to security concerns, they can use a cellular connection instead.
