Scam warning: University reminds employees not to share login credentials

A recent phishing scam successfully deceived many university employees, leading them to unknowingly provide sensitive login information through a fraudulent Google Form. The scam, disguised as an official university communication, was sent via email.

This incident serves as a critical reminder that the university will never ask for your username, password, or any other sensitive login information through email, Google Forms, or other platforms. Any such request is a red flag that it might be a phishing attempt.

What You Can Do

• Look out for red flags: Phishing emails often include urgent language, suspicious links, or unusual requests.
• Verify the sender’s email address: If something seems off, don’t hesitate to reach out to the university IT department.
• Never share your login credentials: Even if an email looks official, remember that no legitimate institution will ask for your username, password, or multifactor authentication details via unsecured means.

The Office of Information Technology is available to assist with any questions or concerns regarding the authenticity of communications related to your university account.

If you receive an email asking for your login information, or are unsure whether an email is legitimate, contact the Help Desk at (208) 426-4357 or email helpdesk@boisestate.edu  immediately for verification.
