Zoom AI Companion Available August 6

The Office of Information Technology is excited to announce that Zoom AI Companion will be enabled for all faculty, staff, and students on August 6.

AI Companion is a tool used during Zoom meetings that helps support you in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Allowing hosts to generate summaries of a Zoom meeting
  • Dividing recordings into smart chapters and creating action items
  • Meeting transcription
  • Generation of interactive whiteboards in a live meeting

Important: AI Companion does not use any user data for training or machine learning improvements and is compliant with FERPA regulations and the protection of sensitive information.

If you are using any other AI tools in Zoom meetings such as OtterAI, you should make plans to switch to Zoom AI Companion. Other tools are not officially supported and do not meet Boise State University’s standards for data privacy and security.

For more information about AI Companion, please visit the Office of Information Technology website.
