Microsoft has announced that Flip will no longer be available as of July 1, 2024. Flip, formerly known as Flipgrid, is a commonly used video discussion tool in Canvas courses.
To help transition to other options, the Office of Information Technology, eCampus Center, and the Center for Teaching and Learning have assembled some resources below.
First, keep in mind your learning goals as you consider student engagement tools and activities. For example, if the video aspect of the activity isn’t essential, it may be sufficient to use the native Canvas discussions and assignments to promote dialogue and interaction among your students.
If video discussions are essential to your learning goals, the recommended alternative tool is Panopto. Panopto is Boise State’s video recording platform and has strong integration into Canvas, including embedded video capacity.
