Scope and Audience

Students enrolled in the School of Nursing Programs.


1. Policy Purpose

To define the grading criteria required for progression in School of Nursing Programs.

2. Policy Statement

Undergraduate Passing Grade

The following grading scale is utilized in the School of Nursing undergraduate programs. A student must receive a 75% as a final grade in courses with an NURS, NURS-RN, or HLTH designation for progression in the nursing program. A final course grade of 74.9% will NOT be rounded up to 75%.

Graduate Passing Grade

The following grading scale is utilized in the School of Nursing. A student must receive an 83% as a final grade in courses with a NURS designation for progression in the nursing program. A final course grade of 82.9% will NOT be rounded up to 83%.

For DNP Students

Designated assignments in the DNP program must be successfully completed and receive a grade of 83% or better in order to progress in the program, irrespective of whether the final course grade is 83% or better.

Grading Scale

  • A = 93-100
  • A- = 90-92
  • B+ = 88-89
  • B = 83-87
  • B- = 80-82
  • C+ = 78-79
  • C = 75-77
  • D+ = 70-74.999
  • D = 68-69
  • D- = 63-67
  • F = < 63
