Interim Divisional Dean and Professor, School of Nursing

Kelley Connor

Dr. Kelley Connor is a registered nurse with a passion for educational technology in academic and clinical settings. She began exploring simulation as a teaching tool to orient new nurses and to create practice opportunities for experienced nurses while working as a perinatal clinical educator. Her tenure at Boise State University began in 2006 where she continued to develop, use, and research simulation as a teaching methodology. Her area of interest has expanded to include virtual reality, educational gaming, and mobile technology. She has participated in the development of virtual experiences for students in Second Life, vSim, and Oxford Medical Simulation. She has used game-based learning to study the impact of an online game designed to improve the breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding outcomes for pregnant women. Her research dissertation involved the use of mobile health applications as a patient education tool. Dr. Connor has numerous publications and presentations to her credit in the areas of simulation, virtual reality, and maternity nursing. Her primary teaching responsibilities include informatics, simulation educator courses, study abroad courses, and maternity nursing.
