Administrative Assistant II, School of Nursing
Janis Hetrick traded in the red field at Eastern Washington University for the blue field at Boise State University’s School of Nursing in 2021. She works as an administrative assistant in Student Services specializing in the pre-license program.
Her experience in education includes a teaching degree from Cal State Fullerton. After teaching in California, Arizona, Washington and South Korea, Mrs. Hetrick’s commitment to the learning process led her to playing an active support role in administration in higher education. Some of the departments served at Eastern Washington University include Geology and Sociology & Justice Studies.
Mrs. Hetrick has a strong background in working with international students of all ages. As an administrative assistant 2 in SON’s student services, she provides support to students pursuing the pre-license nursing degree. She also currently serves as a commissioned Notary of Public, and was recently nominated to the Association of Classified Employees (ACE) senate. Her goal is to deliver opportunities for faculty and student success through meaningful and inspirational engagement and is not afraid to “think outside the box.”
Mrs. Hetrick believes that “Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the Lighting of a Fire” and considers herself to be a life time learner. In her free time, you can find her expressing her creative side through music and painting, or dreaming about her next adventure with her family.
