Anthony Reynolds, BS

Simulation Specialist, School of Nursing

Portrait of Anthony Reynolds

Anthony Reynolds got his start in Health Simulation working as a Standardized Patient while earning his BS in Psychology from Boise State University. He had previously earned an AAS in Electronics Engineering.  His education as well as an extensive and varied work history give him a unique skill set which is well-suited to his position as a Simulation Operations Specialist.

Prior to his start in the world of Health Simulation, Reynolds was a Master Control Operator for a local, independent TV station, where he gained practical, hands on experience with audio and video. He has also worked extensively in live entertainment as a musician and as a paid, touring, renaissance fair performer; and behind the scenes as a sound and lighting engineer, as well as a make-up special effects artist, for several Halloween shows.

Reynolds currently has an avid interest in designing and creating improvised/DIY projects for use in simulation.  He is inspired by opportunities to inexpensively increase simulation fidelity by creating solutions using everything from moulage (make-up and silicone casting of prosthetics) to self-created simulated medical equipment (using 3D printing and Arduino/Raspberry Pi).

In his off time, Reynolds engages in many activities which also contribute to his knowledge used in simulation. He is a self-taught computer hobbyist who builds his own computers and reverse engineers coding for his own uses. He has also been an enthusiast of simulation in the form of gaming (video games and table top RPGs) since childhood, and continues to do so as an adult.
