Adjunct Faculty, AGNP Program
Dr. James “Russ” Pryor is an acute care nurse practitioner and has been in clinical practice for six years. He started out as a hospitalist NP for the trauma surgery service at a large academic hospital and did this for five years. In 2021 he switched gears and changed his specialty to palliative and hospice medicine – he absolutely loves it! He spent most of his nursing career (since 1993) doing ER, critical care, flight nursing, and rapid response team.
He has been teaching advanced practice nursing students since 2016. He joined Boise State University in 2017 as an adjunct faculty instructor, and while he did step away from academics for a couple of years, he is glad to be back with Boise State University again.
He was born and raised in Kansas City where he lived most of his life. In the summer of 2021, he and his family moved to Las Vegas for a great employment opportunity there. He has a husband, son, and two dogs, and they have all adjusted well to desert life and hot weather.
