1. Policy Purpose
Management of parental/mucous membrane and non-intact skin exposure to blood or body fluids.
2. Policy Statement
If a faculty member has an exposure to blood or body fluids while performing the duties of a Boise State University faculty member, she/he should do the following:
- Report exposure to Infection Control/Employee Health and follow needle- stick/exposure policy of the clinical facility.
- Immediately report exposure to Program Director in writing.
- The Program Director will fill out the electronic form from Human Resources for Workman’s Compensation.
- Receive appropriate baseline testing, counseling, and treatment at site designated for workers compensation injury care. Confer with University Workers Compensation campus office for advice on filing a claim. Arrange for follow-up care and treatment through Workers Compensation office.
- Confer with Program Director/clinical coordinator whenever necessary to discuss treatment or follow-up issues.
- Refer to EAP as appropriate.
