Nursing students in Mark Siemon’s community and population health course formed a new student club, called C-CERT (Campus Community Emergency Response Team). In honor of the first America’s PrepareAthon national day of action, C-CERT held an emergency training class on April 30. The training culminated in a simulated disaster, complete with volunteers from the Meridian Medical Arts Charter School adorning moulage and playing victims. Moulage is the art of simulating wounds with makeup and rubber or latex prosthetics.
The simulated disaster scenario drew the attention of KTVB, channel 7 news, who filmed a clip for the evening news about the new club’s training. Boise State student newspaper, The Arbiter, also picked up the story with front page coverage for the club.
