Steve Feldstein, holder of the Frank and Bethine Church Chair of Public Affairs, recently was invited to join a senior advisory group formed by the U.S. Institute for International Peace on countering extremism in fragile states.
The Task Force is co-chaired by Gov. Tom Kean and Rep. Lee Hamilton and includes Sec. Madeleine Albright, among others. It is a newly launched independent body charged by Congress to develop “a comprehensive plan to prevent the underlying causes of extremism in fragile states in the Sahel, Horn of Africa and Near East.”
The role of the senior advisors group will be to guide and provide inputs to the research conducted by project staff on topics related to issues being explored by the task force.
