Boise State’s Cycle Learning Center Earns Platinum Bicycle Friendly Business Designation

The League of American Bicyclists has named Boise State University’s Cycle Learning Center among the national honorees in its Bicycle Friendly Business program as a platinum award recipient, the highest level of achievement.

The bike shop is one of only 43 platinum level award recipients in the nation.

“Our work is to make the world a better place through riding bicycles,” said Gabe Finkelstein, coordinator of the bike shop. “We provide opportunities for our students, staff, faculty and the public to get on bikes for as many transportation needs possible.  We advocate for bicycle infrastructure, teach people how to ride, repair bikes and of course, get wheels to anyone interested in pedaling.”

The Cycle Learning Center is a one-stop, campus cycling shop that offers easy and affordable bike rentals, repair services, a self-service repair station, instructional clinics and alternative transportation information. The center hosts the 10,000 Mile Bicycle Commuter Club, Mountain Bike Monday rides, lunch shift free maintenance classes, the Bronco Biker/Ticket Diversion course and many more free learning opportunities.

“As we celebrate National Bike Month and the tenth year of the Bicycle Friendly Business program, the League of American Bicyclists is honored to recognize our latest new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Businesses. These companies and organizations are making their workplaces and their communities safer, happier, healthier and more sustainable through bicycling,” said Amelia Neptune, director of the Bicycle Friendly America program. “We applaud these businesses, including Boise State University, for leading the charge in creating a more bicycle-friendly America for everyone.”

In addition to the Cycle Learning Center platinum designation, Boise State University has gold status as a Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists. Learn more at www.bikeleague.org/business.
