The Boise State Pride Alliance has begun a Pony-Up campaign to raise money for the Steven Nelson Emergency Fund.
The fund was founded in September 2015 by Pride Alliance President Dane Snow to support LGBT students who face family abandonment, eviction or unemployment after coming out.
Nelson was a beloved Boise State employee who was killed on April 29, 2016. He was known for his caring nature toward others, and the fund was renamed in his memory.
A benefit concert is planned for 7 p.m. April 27 at the Knitting Factory in downtown Boise. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the all ages event.
