Reshmi Mukherjee, an assistant professor in the Department of English, presented a paper “Gender Subaltern Subjects and Body Politics” at the American Comparative Literature Association Conference on March 31 at the University of California, Los Angeles.
In her paper, Mukherjee engaged in a critical analysis of two literary texts from South Asia and Palestine to show how gendered subaltern subjects’ articulation of resistance in the face of sovereign state’s violence give a new direction in the narrative about the corporeality and discursive practice surrounding the “third world” women’s body.
