Wallethub has published an essay by Reshmi Mukherjee titled “How has the 3metoo movement helped, or hurt women in 2018?”
The essay appears as part of a larger piece, 2018’s Best and Worst States for Women. The piece looks at factors like median earnings for female workers, unemployment rates for women, percentage of women living in poverty, percentage of women-owned businesses and several other factors, including women’s depression rates, uninsured rates and more. In Wallethub’s study, Idaho ranks 41st out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Mukherjee’s essay discusses the difficulty of sustaining efforts like 3metoo that address sexual harassment, rights and workplace equality.
“The fact that we are still talking about equal pay, women’s right to reproductive health, etc. is proof enough that states are diverging on the issue of women’s rights…it becomes all the more complex when you add the question of women of color and their rights.”
