Mojtaba Sadegh and Jairo Hernandez co-authored an article published in Water Resources Management titled “The Quest for Hydrological Signatures: Effects of Data Transformation on Bayesian Inference of Watershed Models.”
Hydrological models contain parameters that cannot be directly measured in the field and therefore need to be meaningfully inferred through calibration against historical records. This study strives to understand how different data transformations help extract independent and complementary pieces of information from hydrologic data, or alternatively distort available information.
The researchers’ results will help hydrologists calibrate rainfall-runoff models more accurately.
