“Vanessa is already leading our conversation labs on campus; this program recognizes her competencies and will strengthen her skills,” said Beret Norman, German section head in the Department of World Languages.

The Goethe-Institut describes the program as such:

“The Summer Academy has been developed for students in the US who study German and who are planning to join the teaching profession. In 2025, the Summer Academy will be held in Köln where we will spend 11 days exploring the town and engaging in facilitated conversations and site visits and professional development opportunities. The project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Goethe Institut.”
