Two programs designed to assist farm workers and their immediate family members are teaming up to organize a long sleeve shirt drive in honor of National Farmworker Awareness Week, March 24-31, 2025. The High School Equivalency and College Assistance Migrant Programs are seeking donations of new or gently used, light-colored, natural fabric long sleeve shirts to help protect farmworkers from harmful pesticide exposure and heat-related illnesses, both of which are significant risks in the agricultural industry.
Farmworkers face long hours in harsh conditions, and proper clothing is essential to their health and safety. Long sleeve shirts help reduce the risks of skin exposure to pesticides and provide a layer of protection against the sun’s intense heat.
This drive is an opportunity to show support for those who work tirelessly to provide the community with food and help raise awareness about the challenges they face, all while make a meaningful difference in the lives of farmworkers and their well-being.
Donations can be dropped off at Boulder Hall, Room 115. Those with questions or who would like more information can contact Rebecca Rivera or Rosy Moreno.
