Lee Emmert, clinical faculty in the Department of Media, extends his practice of environmental storytelling into the realm of fine art, with a solo exhibition at the Student Union Building Galleries beginning in March.

Emmert teaches courses in media production. In partnership with Boise State’s School of the Environment and other science programs, he offers his media students authentic learning experiences by creating “Fieldwork” documentary video projects each semester. These projects have led him to broaden the scope of his personal art. He has been taking courses in Boise State’s MFA Visual Arts program and pursuing his own photographic fieldwork—a process of gathering fragmented elements of nature and assembling them into large-scale image compositions which challenge the uncertain indexical relationship between photographs and reality,
Emmert’s exhibition of “Stillness” is supported by a grant from Boise State’s Idaho Film Collection and will be on display from March 2 to April 3, 2025. An opening reception will be held from 4:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, March 4 .
