College of Arts and Sciences launches new events-based courses

Beginning this spring, Boise State students can earn credit towards their degrees when they attend art, science or culture events on campus and in the community. This is thanks to three new courses from the College of Arts and Sciences, all under ARTSCI 297/ARTSCI 497. With the addition of an existing course introduced last year, four total courses in the college offer students credit for event attendance:

  • Arts Passport (ART 297/497, P/F, 1 credit)
  • Culture & Ideas Passport (ARTSCI 297/497, P/F, 1 credit)
  • Environment Passport (ARTSCI 297/497, P/F, 1 credit)
  • Explore Passport (ARTSCI 297/497, P/F, 1 credit)

Students enrolled in one of these four online courses will attend seven total events throughout the semester, writing reflections on their experiences for credit. Appropriate events correspond with each course’s academic subject matter.

These new courses follow the College of Arts and Science’s commitment to experiential learning. They offer students a path to becoming engaged on campus and widening their academic horizons.
