TechHelp, a service that provides technical and business assistance to Idaho manufacturers, named Brad McDonald its new executive director. With over 24 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force, extensive consulting experience and a key role as division administrator at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, McDonald brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the TechHelp team. TechHelp is a Boise State partner located in the College of Business and Economics.
McDonald’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process. The search committee, composed of representatives from various stakeholder groups, unanimously agreed on McDonald’s selection. TechHelp staff who attended candidate presentations also identified McDonald as a top candidate. Outgoing Executive Director Steve Hatten, and Mark Bannister, dean of the College of Business and Economics, strongly supported the hiring decision, ensuring a cohesive vision for TechHelp’s future.
In his military roles, McDonald engaged with large manufacturers and their small and medium company supply chains. His involvement with the Idaho Technology Council and the Department of Health and Welfare helped him develop key relationships with stakeholders important to TechHelp, including economic development and other regional leaders around Idaho. Additionally, McDonald has significant grant writing and management experience in both federal and nonprofit sectors, which required a balance of public and private funding.
After starting his new position in early August, McDonald will work alongside TechHelp’s outgoing Executive Director Steve Hatten, who will officially retire in September after 24 years. To celebrate McDonald’s arrival, TechHelp is planning a director launch campaign featuring fifteen events across the state, which will offer valuable interactions with our community and key partners.
