Boise State’s Public Health Office has prepared several initiatives to keep campus and the entire Southwestern Idaho community healthy.
COVID-19 and flu vaccines
There is an updated COVID-19 vaccine along with the annually released flu vaccines. These updated vaccines closely match circulating variants and are vital to keeping the campus community healthy. With a large uptick in COVID cases currently causing a rise in hospitalizations, the Public Health Office recommends these vaccines for all community members to protect from this season’s respiratory viruses.
Public Health offers vaccinations to all community members, not just Boise State faculty, staff and students. Hard-to-find child COVID vaccines (Moderna) for ages six months and up are available as well as free flu vaccines for the uninsured. You can also receive walk-in flu vaccines at University Health Services. Please note, if you are 19 years old or younger and an Idaho resident, you can use insurance to cover your vaccines at the Public Health Vaccination Clinic but would need to self-pay ($40) for a flu vaccine at University Health Services.
COVID/flu testing and reporting positive cases
Continue to either email publichealth@boisestate.edu or call (208) 426-2968 to report all positive COVID cases, even if a home test is taken. The campus community has over 40 reported cases so far in January 2024. If you have symptoms and receive a negative rapid test, Boise State Public Health recommends retesting in two days.
The Public Health Office continues to offer PCR tests Monday through Friday at the Campus School building. A combined COVD and flu test is available by appointment or by using the self-service drop box.
Additionally, you can have free, at-home COVID rapid tests shipped directly to your home by going to special.usps.com/testkits or you can receive rapid flu and COVID tests by appointment at University Health Services. If you have any difficulty getting your test kits delivered to your dorm, please fill out this online form with the Postal Service to have your address added to the system as a multi-unit building.
