Operation Wish Book is a nonprofit organization started more than 28 years ago by retired teachers. Their goal is to get new books into the hands of children who may not have their own.
Albertsons Library has collected over 3,100 books over the past several decades to support the cause. Every November, the library puts out the call for new, unwrapped books and they have again teamed up with the Bronco Shop to provide an affordable selection of children’s literature for purchase. Bronco Shop sales support Boise State student scholarships, and donations can be left at the checkout register. The goal this year is to collect and donate 500 books to Treasure Valley youth.
Books can also be dropped off on the first floor of Albertsons Library and donations will be collected through Dec. 1. Community volunteers will distribute the books throughout the Treasure Valley in time for the holidays.
