Boise State continues its tradition of participating in the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champions Program and supporting far-reaching online safety awareness and education initiatives throughout October.
Led by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency, the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champions Program is a collaborative effort among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, nonprofits, and individuals committed to raising cybersecurity awareness and best practices.
From mobile electronics to home devices, technology is becoming more intertwined with our everyday lives. Cybersecurity Awareness Month aims to highlight some of the emerging challenges in the cyber world and provide actionable guidance that anyone can follow to create a safe and secure digital world.
This year’s theme is “see yourself in cyber” and focuses on four fundamental cybersecurity best practices:
- Recognizing and reporting phishing.
- Understanding the benefits of using a password manager and creating safe and secure passphrases.
- Enabling Duo or other multi-factor authentication on personal devices and business networks.
- Installing updates regularly and turning on automated updates.
