John Barrie has been named the new environmental operations manager in the facilities, operations and maintenance department. This position will lead the efforts for the university’s custodial and central receiving teams.
Barrie has been in the facilities department at Boise State for the past 18 years. He worked as a custodian for eight years then took on roles as a shift lead, supervisor and, most recently, the environmental operations assistant manager.
“John is truly what we want to see for all facilities employees,” said Barb Beagle, executive director of facilities, operations and maintenance. ” He’s someone who is dedicated to the team, worked his way up through the levels of management, and understands what is like to work in each role, because he’s spent time in each role.”
Barrie completed his bachelor’s degree in English, with an emphasis in creative writing while working in the custodial department.
